Tomasa

“Tomasa,” was born in Guadeloupe, in the French Caribbean.

She began learning and dancing salsa at the age of nine, after asking her mother’s salsa teacher to organize salsa classes for children. The teacher replied, “Bring me a group of students, and then we’ll start the classes.”

After convincing her friends, Noémie did exactly that, and salsa classes for children officially began.

Through years of classes, rehearsals, and performances, she continued to develop her skills, progressing to increasingly advanced levels while training with a series of renowned teachers.

Tomasa's dance journey continued with the discovery of other styles.

She ventured into various dance forms such as contemporary, ballet, lyrical, heels, and street jazz, attending classes and intensive training programs with renowned artists, including Galen Hooks.

Her versatility and passion for dance have allowed her to explore different forms of artistic expression, enabling her to connect with audiences on both emotional and energetic levels.

In 2022, she competed in the French Dance Federation’s National Salsa Championship, where she became the official Salsa Champion of France.
She then represented France and Guadeloupe at one of the world’s largest international salsa championships.

Tomasa has been teaching in Paris for several years, during which time she developed her own Body Movement & Musicality approach:
her “Musical Movement” concept.

The purpose of her classes is to develop musicality and expression through body movement, using a variety of techniques and approaches, including:

Instrument-focused work (dancing with the clave, congas, güiro, etc.)

Rhythm-focused work (learning to dance to and appreciate different rhythms such as son, guajira, cha-cha-cha, etc.)

Musical and choreographic work (internalizing music quickly, developing precision that enhances musicality, and matching movements to sounds)

Energy and body control (aligning your energy with the music).

It is not about simply hearing the music, but about truly listening to it while dancing.
The goal is to enable dancers to connect their bodies and souls to the music.

Tomasa is well known for her unique flavor and her magnetic, almost hypnotic, stage presence.
Her performances and Musical Movement classes are enjoyed by audiences worldwide.
